High Street Neighbours

Summer 2017
Temporary Installation
The Stove, Dumfries.

Lead artist creating a temporary installation on the facade of the Stove, ias part of the 2017 Guid Nychburris Festival and the Stove’s ongoing Conversing Building project. Identifying a need to bring more of a visual presence to the High Street in the early evenings, High Street Neighbours saw six large banners draped out of the Stove building, an interactive sign board and a series of silhouette stencils designed by artist María Ruiz Plana, and created by participants in workshops in the run up to the event.

The signboard was created as a changing anagram of ‘HIGH STREET NEIGHBOURS’, which was altered regularly over the summer following the suggestions of members of the public with ideas collected in the building and over social media.
