Community Mural Project
Lead Artist for Outpost Arts
Dumfries

Over four months in 2023 and 2024, the project hosted a series of online and in-person workshops and discussions for a group of adults and young people, including participants from Outpost Art‘s Art Journal Project and service users from CAMHS (Children’s and Adolescent Mental Health Services) for Dumfries and Galloway. The project took participants through the process of creating a mural, from ideas creation and client working, to skill sharing and confidence building. Skills workshops including hand-painted lettering, upscaling and techniques for mural application, composition and collaborative working.

The project culminated in a four day on-site painting session at The Willows, NHS D&G’s centre for children and young people’s services, creating a brightly coloured and welcoming mural for the reception area, featuring ideas and techniques developed during the sessions.
