Co-creation community art project
Co-lead Artist
Dumfries and Galloway
A collaborative project co-led with socially engaged artist Dr ts Beall, working as joint artists for the Dumfries and Galloway regional area for Phase One of the national project, Remembering Together.
“Remembering Together is a project to co-create memorials that will honour the people we have lost, mark what has been lost and changed in our lives and preserve the best of what we have learned and created together during the Covid pandemic. It is also about remembering all the ways Covid is affecting us. Offering a place to connect, to reflect and to create, Remembering Together is about creating together, being part of a process to commemorate those who have lost their lives, those who have experienced loss and change as well as celebrating the ways in which Scottish communities have come together during the most difficult times.”
For the Phase One part of the project, artists were selected in each of Scotland’s local authority areas to deliver co-created programmes of approach working with community groups to explore potential options for a community covid memorial in Dumfries and Galloway. ts Beall and I worked with a variety of community groups and individuals across the region to develop ideas for the second phase of the project, due to take place in 2023. Remembering Together is delivered by greenspace scotland with funding from Scottish Government, and in Dumfries and Galloway is supported by Dumfries and Galloway Council and DG Unlimited.
