An exhibition of sound and installation works by Katie Anderson
7th October – 12th November 2022
Gallery One, Gracefield Arts Centre
Settling – a process of becoming, to make calmer or quieter, to begin to feel established, to reach a resolution.
A reflective exhibition bringing together a series of sculptural sound and installation works, many exhibited in a gallery space for the first time. Featuring a pair of environmental sound works re-imagined for the gallery, alongside new audio works and installations exploring place, identity, and environment – the works in Settling invite the audience to take a journey – from the sonic to the imagined.
Alongside the exhibition, I will be hosting a couple of ‘active’ days in the gallery beginning with hosting an evening viewing on Friday, 14th October from 6.30-8.30pm. On Saturday 15th October I will be taking The Call, a roaming sound work out in the grounds of Gracefield Arts Centre for a playful afternoon (in the case of terrible weather please get in touch before travelling). And on Saturday, 5th November I will be hosting a drop in Barrow Tarot session – pop by throughout the afternoon and receive your own Barrow Tarot reading.
This feels like a special moment – not only that I have now been practicing for 10 years, but in taking an opportunity to step back and share my work in an alternative space from it’s usual street/forest/landscape/community space, I’m hoping that the opportunity will also give me the chance to see these works again with fresh eyes and ears.
