We’re pleased to announce that the next stage of the Remembering Together project in Dumfries and Galloway is getting underway, as myself and fellow artist t s Beall will be continuing into the next stage of the project to deliver a dispersed Community Covid Memorial across the region.
For those out of the loop, t s (Tara) and I began this project about a year ago, visiting communities, groups and events across the region to explore what a community covid memorial for the region could look like. We hosted a variety of creative workshops, conversations and remote activities (digital and physical) hearing from over 800 folk about their ideas, suggestions and feelings towards the project as the world continues to recover from the pandemic.
We’ll be announcing more about the project’s development in the coming weeks, and have already begun to rekindle conversations and reestablish connections that were created during Phase One of the project, which took place in 2022. In the coming weeks, that will include scheduling both public sessions and focused group activities across D&G to share information about the work and invite contributions to a variety of elements within the final memorial project.
For information about upcoming events and how you can participate, keep an eye on the project’s social media, or email <rememberingtogetherdg@gmail.com>.

There’s also a national project page that you can find more about the work delivered in Dumfries and Galloway so far, and how it fit’s into a national programme of activity and memorials across Scotland, here: https://www.rememberingtogether.scot/dumfries-galloway
The project will continue to be supported in the region by lead delivery partners Dumfries & Galloway Chamber of the Arts, DG Unlimited, with funding from the Scottish Government.
